After two years of fencing surrounding the Coleview Bridge on the entrance to Oakley Park, Taylor Wimpey have confirmed final works have been delayed by graffiti removal but will take place very soon.

Cllr Dale Heenan, “Oakley Park is a well built estate, but many residents ask why it has taken so long for Taylor Wimpey to sort out this fencing. I live nearby so I fully understand the frustrations, and while others stand by doing nothing I’ve spent months trying to get the Environment Agency and Taylor Wimpey to get this snag work with Wagtail footbridge completed.

The company has finally confirmed they are almost ready but been delayed by Environment Agency redtape on Graffiti removal. The whole issue surrounds the agency approving plans to tackle flooding along the River Cole, and then finding a subcontractor.”

The message received from Taylor Wimpey staff this week reads,

“Again, please accept my apologies for the lack of communication regarding our progress at Wagtail Close. There have been a number of items which have arisen which have delayed our start and which I was awaiting answers on before coming back to you, but I am glad to say that we appear to be closing things out finally.

Without troubling you with the finer details, we are now set to proceed on the construction side of things. However, during the last site meeting between our contractor and other relevant parties, the issue of removing the graffiti was raised. Due to the proximity to a water course it is not just a case of jet washing the offending material. Our contractors are finalising their method statements which cover the graffiti removal, which they hope to submit to the EA for approval next week. Once we have received approval we will be in a position to commence with all works associated with the wagtail close footbridge.”
