Coleview Bus service starts 30th April and now six days a week!
Last month I delivered a letter updating you on the progress of our campaign against Thamesdown Transports decision to cut the Coleview Bus Service. This decision was made without any consultation with residents or ward Councillors.
Cllr Richard Hurley and I forced a Council debate on the issue in January, and in February, Swindon Borough Council’s Conservative Cabinet agreed with our arguments and lobbying that the Coleview Bus Service was important. As a result of our efforts, Thamesdown Transport is introducing an offpeak service.
Following the Conservative Cabinets decision to financially support a Coleview bus service, we have not sat back. We have continued to push for further improvements to get the best possible service for local residents.
I am pleased to let you know that:
- Thamesdown Transport will start the new bus service on Monday 30th April.
- The service has been extended from five days a week (Monday to Friday) to six days a week (Monday to Saturday).
- Our request for the service to use the bus stops by Covingham Square and opposite the Nythe GP, instead of via Slade Drive, has been agreed.
The route of the bus from Stratton Park (Sainsbury) to the town centre will be Oxford Road, along Nythe Road, Towcester Road, Sywell Road, Covingham Drive and up Dorcan Way.
We will continue to do all we can to support local residents, and see a permanent 30 minute service in Coleview.
