Good news for Coleview and Nythe – Stratton cut their Parish tax by 4.23%
Cllr Dale Heenan, “Stratton Parish Council have taken an important step forward this week by deciding to cut their tax by 4.23%. This will save every household in Coleview, Nythe and Stratton nearly £5.
This cut will have been a difficult decision for Stratton Parish to make in light of our campaign on behalf of local residents, but it is good news for both local residents and the parish, so well done to them.
We have had our differences but this action is the right thing to do, and shows that services can be protected even in these tough economic times. I have no intention of saying I told you so.
On the flip side, even with this year’s reduction it appears that the residents of Stratton, Coleview and Nythe will still pay £70 more a year than places like Covingham, Liden, Dorcan and West Swindon.
The review of Stratton Parish Council which was announced by Swindon Borough Council in December will continue to take place from June 2012. ”
According the Parish Clerk, a reduction of 4.23% is equivalent to saving £28,000 on their £1.4 million budget.
