Nythe allotments are a go!

More than 60 new allotment plots are set to be created after Swindon Borough Council approved a 3 year lease of Council land to the independent Nythe Allotment Society.

Cllr Dale Heenan, “I’ve been supporting local residents for a long time in trying to find land for new allotments, but the big problem has been there simply isn’t any available for use. I am pleased my lobbying has come to fruition and Swindon Borough Council has given permission to the newly formed Nythe Allotment Society to use Council land for their allotments. Over 60 plots will be available for residents across Nythe, Covingham and Coleview to use, and the resident group are keen to create raised beds and areas for disabled users so this will be a benefit for the whole community.

Our focus now is on securing the wooden posts and materials needed for the site fencing, and obtaining items like water butts. If any business was willing to sponsor this prominent location then we would be really keen to speak to them.”

Any business interested in sponsoring the Nythe Allotments can contact the residents group on, or contact Cllr Dale Heenan on and 07792755227
