Coleview bus service to stay!
The Cabinet Member for Transport, Cllr Keith Williams, is currently consulting on the future of the Bus Services which Swindon Borough Council will financially support. His “decision note” is waiting to be signed off and approved but he has first asked ward councillors for their views.
Dale Heenan, “When the Conservative Cabinet was deciding on a new thee year bus strategy earlier this summer, I strongly voiced my hope that the Coleview Bus service would be retained. After months of lobbying and campaigning of other Councillors and Senior Council Officers, and trying to encourage more residents to use the Coleview bus service, I am very pleased to find out that Swindon Borough Council WILL continue to pay Thamesdown Transport to keep the Coleview bus service running. The bus service is valued by local residents and it is important to keep it going. The new timetable is a compromise but in these tough economic times it is the right decision and is the best we could have realistically have hoped for.”
The new timetable for Coleview bus will mean the bus starts slightly earlier at 10am and will continue to allow local residents to visit their gp, Sainsburys and the town centre.
The current bus service will continue until the end of October when the new timetable will be introduced.
