Cllr Dale Heenan,  I can reassure local residents that the Covingham Square improvements will be going ahead this year. Sadly several Councillors have spoken to the media without the full facts. £450,000 is ample funding to provide a facelift for the Villages Centres across Swindon, and this is really positive action being taken by this Council. Labour claims of broken promises is nothing more than playing politics with local communities on an issue they have taken no interest in.

In April, I specifically asked the new Council Leader for Cabinet responsibility of these project because they had stalled, and someone needed to step up. I am determined to see the improvements pushed through because one of the Village Centres is Covingham Square, an area I represent as a local ward Councillor.

In the last four months we have made good progress on the Improvement projects for Lawn and Freshbrook, with  Covingham Square and Liden Centre scheduled for consultation in October.

Two years ago, I worked with Covingham Parish Council to ensure a refresh and tidy up of Covingham Square took place, and this year local residents will see improvements covering new seating and cycle racks through to the grassed area and footpaths.
