_58343122_communityspeedwatchCommunity Beat Manager PC Frank Key has written to local Councillors Richard Hurley and Dale Heenan  following concerns about speeding vehicles in Covingham.

“Just to update you in response to ongoing concerns regarding speeding in the area we have been out and about with the new speed camera this week in our area when we had some spare time. We have covered Kingfisher Drive, St Pauls Drive, The Drive, Greenbridge Road. We have pulled over numerous vehicles that have exceeded the speed limits and given suitable advice. There were 10 vehicles that exceeded our ticket threshold and were given endorsable tickets. In one of these vehicles a quantity of herbal cannabis was located and seized resulting in a cannabis street warning. Another driver was caught on his mobile phone and also prosecuted. Another driver was given a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt. We will continue to carry out speed checks in our area when able to do so.”

Cllr Dale Heenan “The Police do a great job across our area whether Coleview, Covingham, Liden or Nythe. We are one of the safest areas of Swindon, but local residents still have concerns. Speeding vehicles in particular is often mentioned to us and we are working with the Council Highways department about Heavy Good Vehicles on Merlin way. PC Key’s update shows they do take action”
