Road and grass maintenance
Work for the road sweeper is prioritized around the A & B routes (mainly Bus Routes like Merlin way and Covingham Drive) which are swept four times per year. The Council tries to sweep residential roads once a year as and when this machine has spare capacity, although specific locations which are particularly bad as identified following inspection will receive a one-off sweep.
Highway Inspections are carried out every 6 months for A/B routes, footways & cycle-ways, 4 times a year for local shopping parades like Covingham Square and Liden Centre, and footpaths annually. Any repairs should be actioned within 8 weeks of an inspection and are typically circled with a white line.
The Council still aims to cut grass around 12 times a year (approx every 3 to 4 weeks) between March and October depending on the weather and growth conditions. Due to the recent of cold weather, grass cutting has only just started.
The route schedule is below for residents information, and any roads not covered are normally the responsibility of a Parish.”
