Borough Council starts formal consultation on splitting up Stratton Parish Council

Swindon Borough Council has started to formally consult local residents on splitting up Stratton Parish Council because more evidence is needed on where the boundary line should be between the new Parish Councils.

Swindon Borough Council will now have until the 10th February to receive final comments from residents on whether to keep the status quo or split up Stratton Parish Council south of the railway line, south from Oxford road or only Lower Coleview and Nythe.

Dale Heenan, “Richard Hurley, the team and I have worked hard to gather evidence from local residents on the demand, and need, for change with Stratton Parish Council. Both teams have made their case and it is a score draw at the end of the first half.

In Stage 1, Swindon Borough Council received submissions from Stratton Parish Council and an ex Labour Councillor to keep the Parish Council unchanged, and submissions from Cllr Richard Hurley and myself with the support of over 350 residents for a new local Lower Coleview and Nythe Parish Council.”

The Community Governance Review has gone into extra time, but effort is going to be worthwhile if we can save every household in Coleview and Nythe £70 a year, and have better run local services.”
