Coleview bus service to return
Cllr Dale Heenan, “I am pleased that our campaign to see the Coleview bus service has succeeded. By using our knowledge of the Council, and effective lobbying and influencing of other Councillors, Swindon Borough Council will be providing Thamesdown Transport a grant to provide an off peak bus service through Coleview for the next 12 months, and follows Thamesdown’s decision to cut the 23 bus because they were losing money due to low passenger numbers.
This is good news for local residents, particularly those who have contacted Richard, Emma and I about their difficulty walking long distances to the nearest bus stop. For these people a local bus service is crucial for shopping, visiting the local gp and living independent lives. The new 90 minute service will make this all possible again. I would urge as many residents to use the service as possible to ensure it is not threatened in the future.
The decision follows a debate on the 12th January that was orchestrated by myself and fellow ward councillor Richard Hurley, and unanimous agreement to ask the Cabinet to consider all the possible options. We will continue to press the case for local residents.”
