InSwindon agrees to help work with local businesses to support Coleview bus services

Thamesdown Transport is cutting the service 23 Bus which provided a service from Coleview to the Town Centre and Sainsburys every 30 minutes.

Cllr Dale Heenan “Local residents have contacted me about how they use the 23 bus for shopping in the Town Centre and Sainsbury’s, and the difficulties they will now have without this bus service.

I have contacted InSwindon, the Town Centre Management company,  and the Swindon Chamber of Commerce, asking them to help facilitate meetings with local businesses, such as Sainsburys, to see how a viable bus service can be supported commercially.

I am pleased to say that InSwindon has agreed to work alongside Swindon Borough Council, Thamesdown Transport and Stagecoach to see how a Coleview bus service continue with the help of local businesses.

The 23 bus must be given a stay of execution while alternatives are investigated.  Every option, every opportunity must be considered.

Thamesdown Transport has said that the 23 bus is losing money every month because of a 4% drop is passengers and a 12% increase in fuel costs, yet there has been a complete lack of consultation with passengers and local Councillors on the cutting of 23 Bus.”
