Ideas to improve the ward

Dale Heenan
  • On March 2, 2011

Cllr Dale Heenan "Over the years your ward Councillors have worked with local residents to improve the whole area. We have listened to residents about their problems, proactively raised issues with Council Officers and tried to deal with any road blocks to progress – whether it is down to money, tackling bureaucracy or providing the necessary leadership. Local residents continue to say how nice Coleview, Covingham and Nythe is to live and that is just how we all want to keep it.

Under the Conservatives, more than twice the Highways work orders were raised to tackle problems like pot holes and road resurfacing. Sometimes it takes time, like the Drive in Nythe, but we will always continue to push for action.

One way that we have been able to see things happen in the ward is to carefully use s106 money provided by Taylor Wimpey, the developers behind the Oakley Park development. Examples of this work includes:

  • A crossing on the Drive in Nythe
  • Contribution towards the cost of resurfacing the Drive in Nythe
  • Setting up the pilot No Cold Calling scheme in Nythe
  • Improved signage and materials for the Neighbourhood Watch
  • A refurbishment of Covingham Library
  • A contribution to Colebrook Schools patio and lighting
  • Vehicle Activated Speed Signs on Merlin Way
  • Improvements to Covingham Square

I& 39;d like to reiterate our pledge to listen to local residents on any requests they have. If you have any ideas, please get in touch and send them to"
