19/06/09 – Highways Agency Fail to Sound Proof All Of Covingham as Promised
Your local Councillors, Dale Heenan, Glenn Smith and Phil Young have received letters from the Highways Agency. They are copies of letters which the Agency is sending to local residents who live within 50m of the proposed Sound Barriers site along the edge of the A419 in Covingham.
Cllr Dale Heenan “Hearing that the Sound Barrier will now be built is good news, but the Government and Highways Agency have cruelly misled local residents. They acknowledge that they have gone back on their promises and have shortened the length of the Barrier by over 100m. Those most affected in Peregrine Close and Merlin Way will continue to have problems.”
Cllr Glenn Smith “It appears that even though we had been working with them for several years to get status updates for residents, they’ve only now decided to admit clearly that they have failed to install fences along the entire distance of Covingham as planned.
The maps in the letter shows the fence stopped part way along Merlin Way. It is a disgrace that after so much time and calls for this from local residents, some will loose out.”
