10/2/08 – Action on Litter near Colebrook school & Coleview Centre

Dale Heenan
  • On February 10, 2008

Cllr Dale Heenan: Phil and I held our monthly surgery at Coleview Community Centre on Saturday. We noticed a great deal of litter had become caught in the fence between Colebrook school and Coleview Community Centre over the last couple of weeks.

The litter was also raised by 2 residents during the surgery and we promised to get the litter removed. Resident’s discussed whether it was the school’s responsibility, the Community Centre’s responsibility or the Council’s. At the end of the day, residents want action and do not care who picks up litter, just that it is.

After the meeting, I contacted the Director of Environment and Health and asked for a Litter patrol to be sent to the area during the week. The Director has agreed in writing to this request, and he has asked Swindon Commercial Services to dispatch a team to clear the litter in Coleview.

We will monitor the situation to ensure the area is cleared.
