06/08/07 – Press Release : Thames Water and Environment Agency Refuse to Talk to Covingham and Nythe Residents
The flooding in July made around 100 houses in the Covingham and Nythe ward inhabitable for several months while repair work is carried out. Therefore the local Conservative ward Councillors, Glenn Smith, Dale Heenan and Phil Young request the Environment Agency and Thames Water to attend a public meeting in the ward to explain to the residents why it happened and what action they would be taking.
However both organisations have refused to attend such a meeting. At the special Scrutiny Committee meeting on Wednesday 29th August, Cllr Glenn Smith the Vice Chair raised this point with both organisations, who again confirmed they would not be prepared to attend.
