18/4/07 – Noise from Redlands

I have spoken to couple of residents recently who have stated they believe noise from Redlands planes over Covingham. Therefore I wrote to Redlands to see if anything had changed and they have replied with the information which I have put below.

It would seem the wind is the main reason and that this should be a short-lived issue.


Certain things have changed, namely the weather! We started jumping after a winter break at the beginning of February and have had weeks of rain, water logged runways and strong winds since then with hardly any jumping due to this incl< ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />ement weather. The last two week ends have been glorious and perfect weather for jumping so we have had very busy weekends. 

The last three weeks has seen the wind coming from a north/north easterly direction (which is unusual) and so any sound is carried in a west/southwest direction towards Swindon. This is the most likely reason that the sound is more noticeable in Covingham recently. In contrast, we have also noticed that we haven
