18/3/07 – Covingham Play Park Update
Many of you have contacted myself and my fellow ward councilors regarding the installation of the play park by the Parish Council. For those of you that I have not spoken to, I would like to highlight that this work is being carried out by the Parish Council and not the Borough Council. It would appear that the Parish Council had not conducted full consultation with local residents over the location of the play equipment.
I am pleased to report however that following my conversation with the borough property department I have discovered that the Parish Council did not yet have official approval to conduct the work. Therefore I have instructed the property department not to issue approval until they are satisfied that consultation has occurred.
This means that construction will have to stop while consultation happens. This will mean you will have the opportunity to voice your views directly with the Parish Council.
In the meantime if there is anything else that myself or my fellow ward councilors can assist with please feel free to get in touch with any of us.
Update: I have heard the Parish are intending to hold a extraordinary meeting on Tue 27th March 2007 at 7.30pm in the Covingham Infants School hall. I would recommend that anyone who wants to attend does so to tell the Parish Council what they think.
