14/2/07 – No plans for A419 Noise Reductions
I have today spoken to the consultants that the Highways Agency have been using to look in to putting in place noise reduction features along the A419.
They instructed me that owing the on-going archaeological issues with the land that buts up along the length and Covingham and Coleview they had no plans in the next couple of years to install anything.
So much so, there is no construction budget in the 2007/2008 Highways Agency budget to do built it even if they wanted to.
The problem is that the fence they want to build would mean they need to dig holes every so often. I suggested why not build a earth bank then put a fence on that. They instructed me that yes that could happen, however this cost more so they didn’t want to do it!
It is a shame that considering our MP was doing the rounds a few years ago hailing a quieter life for residents in Covingham and Coleview, it’s a shame they were empty promises.
